This morning, Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva joined farmers at Nyarububa Marshland in Rulindo District to officially launch the 2027A Agricultural Season nationwide.
Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva encouraged farmers to boost productivity and to properly maintain farming infrastructure, both key to sustainable development.

The main objective of the 2027A season is therefore to increase the production of food crops and export crops while reducing post-harvest losses and other avoidable losses across the agricultural value chain.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI), the success of the 2027A season will require coordinated efforts from farmers, local authorities, agricultural extension workers, agro-dealers, seed companies, fertilizer companies, NGOs, projects, youth companies, agronomists, farmer promoters, media and other agricultural stakeholders.
MINAGRI emphasizes the importance of working together to ensure that farmers have access to the knowledge, quality inputs, technologies, mechanization, extension services and markets needed to achieve higher productivity.

The Ministry’s message also calls for stronger coordination among all actors involved in agriculture, from input suppliers and farmers to buyers and other market players, so that increased production translates into improved incomes and food security.
The 2027A agricultural season is not simply about putting more land under cultivation. It is about increasing productivity, improving farming practices, protecting natural resources, adapting to climate risks, reducing post-harvest losses, diversifying production and connecting farmers with markets.
